Safety & Care

Safeguarding at Dulwich TTC

Parents should be able to drop a child at a session without a second thought. This is how we make that true: checked coaches, clear supervision and a written route for raising concerns.

Our commitment

The welfare of children and adults at risk comes before results, fixtures and everything else we do. Everyone who coaches or helps at our sessions works to this policy, and it applies at the venue, at competitions and in any club communication.

Our coaching team

  • Enhanced DBS checked before working with juniors.
  • First-aid trained, with a stocked first-aid kit at every session.
  • Safeguarding certified, with refresher training kept current.
  • Qualified table tennis coaches working to recognised coaching standards.

How junior sessions run

  • Registers are taken at the start of every junior session.
  • Coaches work in open, visible spaces — no one-to-one coaching in a closed room.
  • Parents and guardians are welcome to stay and watch.
  • Juniors are released only at the advertised finish time to the adult who booked them.
  • Any injury or incident is recorded and reported to the parent or guardian the same day.

Communication

Coaches communicate about juniors through the parent or guardian, not privately with the child. Club WhatsApp and email are used for session logistics only.

Photography and video

We only photograph or film juniors for club purposes such as match reports and coaching feedback, and never where a parent has asked us not to. Tell us in writing and we will exclude your child from all club imagery.

Medical information and accessibility

Please tell us about medical conditions, allergies, medication or additional needs when booking. It stays confidential to the coaching team and lets us plan the session properly.

Raising a concern

  • Speak to the coach leading the session, or email the club if you would rather not raise it at the venue.
  • Concerns are recorded, handled confidentially and acted on without delay.
  • Where a child may be at risk of harm we will refer to the local authority safeguarding team and, where appropriate, the police. We will not delay a referral to investigate ourselves.
  • In an emergency, always call 999 first.
